The 2011 Chevy Silverado is on its way to beat Ford’s F-150 and become the #1 Pickup Truck in America. It’s also on its way to be GMC’s 2011 Sierra. Chevy’s Silverado Heavy Duty includes triple rated springs and an insane 20,000lb towing capacity thanks to the Duramax diesel. Wow, so get ready GMC fans to tow a boat, cattle, another pickup…pretty much anything you can think of.

The Silverado “HD” (which doesn’t stand for high definition) and future Sierra includes a 92% stiffer frame, and a sub-frame that is 125% stiffer then previous years. Sierra/Silverado has a 36 gallon fuel tank and a range of 680 miles, leaving around 18.8 MPG on the highway – an 11% improvement over the current truck. Rear suspension has been upgraded, giving more spring behind the axle. It reportedly has between 3000 – 4000 lbs greater (of a towing cap. that is) then Ford’s F-150, 250 & 350 models.

But GM’s mighty truck also has style: “…chrome on the front bumper, a slightly revised hood and “Duramax” hood badge, the end of 16″ wheels at the bottom in favor or 17-inchers and the addition of 20″ wheels at the top. It also gets hydraulic cabin mounts in the back…” Though pickup drivers are not really interested in looking too flashy.

Expect to drop around $20,000 – 28,000 on an all new 2011 Chevy Silverado / GMC Sierra before taxes and expenses.

According to authorities out of El Paso, Texas the GMC Sierra pickup truck has made its first appearance on a list of five most stolen vehicle in that region. A bad sign for owners of the Sierra, yet it also shows car thieves in the south and western states have really good taste in trucks! El Paso County Auto Burglary and Theft Prevention Task Force officials say that 50 GMC Sierra’s have been stolen from the region since January 2008 – this knocks Ford’s F-350 to sixth place.

What’s on top as far as other stolen trucks in the region? 114 Chevrolet Silverados, 109 Ford F-150s, Ford F-250s and 54 Chevrolet Tahoe. At least the Sierra is in good company.
