That’s right – next time you see an email about adding on 8-inches, don’t put it to your spam folder – it may be your Superlift reservation ready to go.

Superlift is now shipping 8-inch lift kits for 2007-current Chevy/GMC 1500 pickups. Available for 2WD and 4WD Silverados/Sierras, the Superlift 8-inch kit cleanly makes clearance for 35″-tall tires. Minor wheelwell trimming clears 37s. The system is compatible with GM’s StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control (ESC). All load-bearing bracketry is made from laser-cut .25″-thick steel. Full-width control-arm crossmembers incorporate kicker braces for added strength. Major front components include replacement iron knuckles and premium gas-charged struts. The 4WD systems don’t require cutting/modifying the differential, and the OE front axleshafts and driveshaft are retained.

Rear lift blocks ensure that factory ride quality and load-carrying capacity are retained. Premium Superide replacement springpacks are one of many options.

Available in both regular and extended cab models (varying in prices of $15,000 to $24,000) this Chevy rebrand also comes in 2-and-4 wheel drive varieties. Estimated MPG also range from 18 city to 24 highway.

According to GM – Maximum towing capacities are 4,000 lbs for the Regular Cab, and 5,500 lbs for the Extended and Crew Cabs, while the beds of the Regular Cab 4WD, Extended Cab 2WD and Crew Cab 2WD models can carry the maximum payloads of 1,535, 1,532 and 1,316 lbs, respectively.

That puts 2009′s Canyon in a bracket many smaller pickups cannot compete with. Sadly, one thing the Canyon is lacking is style – one of its own. As it is a rebranded Chevrolet, many buyers and fleets will opt for the Chevy logo over GMC – this may be part of the reason why sales have been decent at best for this work horse. Another would undoubtedly be last year’s sky rocketing fuel prices. With gas coming down under $2 a gallon, and it’s towing strength along with good gas mileage, perhaps 2009 will be the year of the Canyon.
