GMC PAD Concept
GMC wants to help you work from home, but still get to off site meetings or pick up the kids (or a special lady) and cook them a nice dinner after hours. With the PAD concept you can have your apartment and work there too. This may be the future of mobile homes.

The PAD looks more like a mobile command vehicle from some futuristic scifi action movie. Or it may be the evolution of redneck trailer park living. The concept is based off the ever changing need for small and adaptable living spaces in the Southern California (aka Southland) region. Your GMC PAD can feature an office along with living space (bedroom, kitchen and bath) and most importantly a cockpit to maneuver your mobile loft. The square footage isn’t much to be in awe at, but have you seen rental rates in California lately? And did we mention there was a built in spa?

GMC’s PAD runs on a diesel/electric hybrid system, which not only powers the vehicle but also the generator for the apartment’s powergrid. On board water and fuel are maintained (for weeks or months depending on usage) thanks to a state of the art management system. The roof contained photovoltaic cells that collect and store the sun’s energy. And electromagnetic suspension aid in leveling & stabilization when the PAD is in use, and also keeps the vehicle easy to handle while in drive mode.

For your enjoyment, the roof features a retractable patio section for the cool summer nights.
