GMC & Clean Energy Fuels to Open Hydrogen Station in LA

General Motors Corp and Clean Energy Fuels have teamed up to open a hydrogen fueling station in Los Angeles. Both companies are looking at future opportunities to expand the hydrogen infrastructure. This station will be located at Con of Clean Energy’s facilities in Los Angeles. The new facility is expected to be operational by the early fall of 2008. said Mary Beth Stanek, director of energy and environmental policy & commercialization at General Motors says that “Developing and growing hydrogen infrastructure is vital to GM’s efforts to bring larger volumes of fuel cell vehicles to the market.”.

Clean Energy’s president Andrew J. Little says they will address the challenges of creating a hydrogen station by “leveraging the growing network of natural gas stations, a variety of hydrogen station designs can be introduced to the public,” continuing to comment “Ultimately, reforming pipeline natural gas to produce hydrogen at our stations may be done inexpensively, thereby taking advantage of the ready infrastructure.”
