GMC Acadia Loses Steam

Gas prices have dropped faster than they rose. Yet, auto makers are steering away from full size SUV’s and heading towards smaller trucks and even crossovers. And even those smaller Sport Utility Trucks are going hybrid. So when rumors of GMC ending the short run of their Acadia some were so surprised. In fact, with the looming financial disaster narrowly averted at General Motors (thanks to last minute Government intervention) more than a few of our favorite models by various auto makers may get the cut.

Acadia is GMC’s updated version of their successful Envoy truck. Curvier designs and a sexy interior have caught the eyes of many small truck and crossover enthusiasts, but moderate sales across the board, along with this past summer’s hatred of anything not compact, really hurt GMC’s bottom line. The real question is, can a truck producer stand up to the trying fiscal and green energy demands of today?
